Teacher's Guide. For children Ages 11-14. Part of a 4 Year Course. Years 2A. Prophets and Kings I. David thru the fall of the Northern Kingdom
In studying this section of the Old Testament we must be clear that we are not primaril concerned with Middle Eastern History and geography or Mediterranean navigation. Our fundamental interest is in the outworking of God's purpose amoung the people of Israel, and the relevance of their experience in terms of our own relationsjhip with God in the Twenty First Century.
Nor in exploring the Hebrew prophets are we chiefly concerned with the "predictive" nature of prophecy. We must realise that an important aspect of any prophecy is its immediate message to those who first heard the words.
We must not forget the we are basically interested in people, men and women, in real life situations. We need to observe closely their virtues adn their faults, their response to spiritual influence, their reaction ot difficulties, thier relationships to one another and God.
