The Gospel of Luke concerns “all that Jesus began both to do and teach” (Acts 1:1). It begins in the temple at Jerusalem with the angel Gabriel speaking to Zacharias and it ends at Jerusalem in the temple with the disciples “praising and blessing God” (Lk. 24:53). And running through the Gospel is the great theme of Christ’s journey when “he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem” (9:51). This book considers this, and many other themes and topics as they arise, verse by verse throughout the Gospel, with each verse interpreted in the light of other passages from both the Old and New Testaments. A study of this Gospel reveals it to be deep and profound, shining throughout with “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Cor. 4:6).
