Theophany - The Bible doctrine of the manifestation of God upon earth and the angels, in the Lord Jesus, Christ, and hereafter in "The manifestation of the Son of God".

This book really has its first origin in some events in New York City so far back as the summer of 1856. At that time two "converted" Jews were trying to convert their fellow Jews to so called "orthodox" Christianity. The late Dr Thomas, who died in 1871, attended in their meetings and became involved in a controversy with an orthodox Jew, Dr De Lara. He faithfully set before both Jews and gentiles the true doctrine of the Bible concerning the Godhead, as distinct from the "incomprehensible" Trinitarian "fables" which have supplanted it.

As he was at that time conducting a monthly magazine called the Herald of the Kingdom, he published in the volume of 1857-1859 a series of articles on the subject of God Manifestation, which years afterward (in 1869) were published Birmingham, England, in pamphlet form under the title of "Phanerosis". This pamphlet was sold for over 50 years.

Phanerosis though in the main very excellent, contained certain mis-statements and errors that had become evident thru criticism, friendly and otherwise; and we could not conscientiously go on our reproducing these, knowing that Dr Thomas would not wish us so to do, were he in the land of the living. . .

Under these circumstances we had either had to drop the book and the subject, publish a corrected edition of the "Phanerosis", or write independently on this subject. The last alternative has been chosen, the present book containing the substance of articles on this subject that have appeared in the Christadelphian Magazine during the last five years.
