John's narrative is quite different from the other Gospel records. The book is designed around particular issues, deals extensively with disputations and contains little of the human emotional factors. When the miracles, which John calls "signs", are dealt with it is with teaching principles or elements of the sign involved. He does not however, explain the meaning of the signs, but records all the clues and identifies them specifically.
