Old Earth Creationism

Historical Creationism

his book is about whether Genesis 1 talks about a solid firmament, a heavenly ocean, and a flat earth.
Theistic evolutionists (or evolutionary creationist) advocate these interpretation. They argue that Genesis is the language of its day - a kind of ancient cosmology, not to be related to Science in any way. This is known as "accommodationism" which affirms that the inspired writers used ideas that his audience would understand in order to teach that the God of Israel was the creator.

This book advocates Historical Creationism - a view that holds Genesis 1 to be an historical account of a creation 'week'. It is a short study of these three aspects of Genesis: the firmament: the waters above the firmament: and the earth and seas.

It presents a fairly literal view of Genesis - the firmament and the waters above the firmament are not mythical elements but historical aspects of God-manifestation in the account. The concept of the earth is not flat of a 'flat earth' (or a 'planet' for that matter) but just one of 'dry land' or 'all land'.

The book offers an interpretation of Days One, Tow and Four centered around God-manifestation, which is distinctively Christadelphian way of reading.

Special Creationism

Understanding Evolution Combating Theistic Evolution and Evolutionary Creationism
This is the third of a trilogy following earlier books "Old Earth Creationism", and "Historical Creationism". It is an examination of creation, evolution, and the intelligent design debate;

It argues

Genesis 1 is an account of a recent special creation of a habitable environment for mankind focused on Mesopotamia. It is exemplary for all of the planet (and the universe), teaching that God is a creator of all things.

Evolution is a matter for Science and to be considered in the pre-Adamic space. Genesis presupposes the existence of the planet, and Science has shown that there is an ancient history of life on earth. Philosophically, Science cannot exclude divine action (special creation) from this history.

Genesis gives us warrant for seeing the creative acts of God throughout the history of life on earth and nature shows this to have been the case in its evidence of intelligent design.
