We can view the books of Chronicles as documents preparing a people for a Savior to come. Like the gospel accounts of
Book in Very Good Good Condition, some underlining and highlighting
atthew and Luke, they commence with genealogical information and continue by describing the growth and power of privileged classes in Judah, who quickly moved away from relying on God's Word, killed the the propehts and stoning those who were sent to them from God.
Interspersed into the story of sad but inevitable declince are cameo pictures of faithful men and women who held firm the truth of God's word, who instructed their children in His ways, and who rejoiced in His mercy. The real value for later generations lies in these accounts of triumph over every adversity, "and they are written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come".
