First and foremost, David was God's servant . . .
As a good servant, he sought to be obedient, and to love his Master. God called him a man after His own heart. God's law illuminated his path, and in addition to following it himself, he upheld God's law to others.
In the life of David can be found both a pattern for the work of the Lord, and a path for his disciples of all ages to follow.
