Notes provided for a Study Day by John Martin inToronto in 1980.
The Epistle of James is amongst the earliest writings of the New Testament. It contains no mention of Gentiles in or out of the Ecclesia, but is specifically addressed to the "Twelve tribes of the Diaspora". Although written in precise Greek, it is strong Hebraistic in its tone, abrupt, powerful, and full of the colorful langauage that enriches the writings of Moses and the Prophets.
