The impetus for this work seems to have stemmed partly from the discovery of the Sinaitic codex nin years before ((1805), and it seemed likely to Richter to be the most reliable of all the NT documents because of its great age.

It is felt by the pulisher's that this is a useful and scholarly work, to be recommended to al serious Bible students.
