The great importance of the prophecy of Habakkuk can be seen from the citing of one of its key phrases:
"the just shall live by faith" in three New Testament Epistles.
It is intriguing that a matter of such importance was found among these chapters of the "Minor" prophet "Habakkuk". Why is this so? Because Habakkuk was given a explicit message about the approaching invasion of the armies of Babylon, which would cause destruction and ruin throughout the whole land. The prophet knew that the people were wayward, but he had never contemplated such a Divine response as this. Was this really proper justice? So Habakkuk put his case to Yahweh and waited to see what answer God would give.
